Turn on your first features

Account Editor ships with every feature off. Nothing happens until you choose. Go to Features, and you get 18 cards grouped by what they do. Each shows whether it is On, Off, or Not live yet. Turn on a few, not all of them.

Why everything is off

You decide what customers may change. A store selling engraved gifts wants different rules from one selling t-shirts.

So a fresh install does nothing, and you opt in.

The Features page

Search by name or description, or filter by category:

  • Order editing — What customers can change on their orders
  • Cancellations and returns — Cancel, return, EU withdrawal
  • Customer communication — Emails, invoices, surveys, support
  • Store configuration — Discounts, languages, integrations
  • Sales and upsells — Offers after checkout

The three statuses

  • On — Meaning: Working, and customers can see it — What to do: Nothing
  • Not live yet — Meaning: Turned on, but its app block is missing — What to do: Select Finish setup
  • Off — Meaning: Not turned on — What to do: Select Set up

Not live yet is the one that catches people out. The feature is on and the settings are saved, and customers still see nothing — because the block was never added.

What to turn on first

Start with three:

  • Address and shipping edits — Stops failed deliveries, the most expensive mistake
  • Item edits and refunds — Answers the most common customer question
  • Order cancellation — Turns a chargeback risk into a retention offer

Once those are working, the next most valuable are usually Returns and exchanges, Invoices, and Upsell.

Then place the blocks

Turning a feature on does not put it on the page. After turning on your first features, go back to Features and use Add app block on the banner.

See Add Account Editor blocks to your store.

Good to know

Start narrow. Allowing more later is easy. Taking something away after customers have used it causes complaints.

Every feature has its own settings. Turning one on is the start, not the end. Open it and check what it allows.

Check the preview. Preview order page shows what customers will get, before anyone sees it.

Some features need a plan tier. Those show a badge. Every plan includes every feature, so this means you have not chosen a plan yet.

Troubleshooting

  • Every card is greyed out — Why: No plan selected — Fix: Choose one under Pricing
  • A feature says Not live yet — Why: Its app block is missing — Fix: Select Finish setup
  • You cannot find a feature — Why: It may be named differently — Fix: Search by what it does, not its name
  • A feature is on but does nothing — Why: Its own settings are all off — Fix: Open it and check
  • The upsell card opens another page — Why: Upsell has its own workspace — Fix: Expected
  • Customers see nothing at all — Why: No app block, or testing mode is on — Fix: Check both

FAQ

Why is everything off when I install?

So you choose what customers may change. Defaults that suit one store would be wrong for another.

Which features should I turn on first?

Address edits, item edits and cancellations. Those cover the most common and most expensive problems.

What does "Not live yet" mean?

The feature is on, but its app block is not on the page, so customers cannot see it.

Can I turn a feature off later?

Yes, any time. It stops applying to new orders straight away.

Do I have to turn on all 18?

No. Most stores use a handful. Turn on what solves a problem you actually have.
