Connect fraud checks

If Forter, NoFraud or Signifyd flags an order, Account Editor can stop customers editing it. Connect yours under Features → Integrations, then enter the tags it adds to declined orders.

Why this matters

Post-purchase fraud is real. An order passes checkout, then the address is changed to somewhere else entirely.

Your fraud tool catches the order. This makes sure the order stays caught.

Connect it

  1. Go to Features → Integrations.
  2. Find Forter Fraud, NoFraud or Signifyd.
  3. Turn on the integration.
  4. Enter the tags your tool adds to declined orders.
  5. Save.

Copy the tags exactly. Get them from a real flagged order in Shopify, not from memory. A near-miss matches nothing and the integration does nothing.

Shopify's own fraud analysis

You do not need a third-party tool. Settings → Editing restrictions has Stop customers editing orders flagged as high risk, which uses Shopify's own analysis.

Use both if you have both.

Good to know

It works on tags, so the tags must match. This is the only thing that goes wrong. Check a real order.

It blocks editing, not the order. The order still exists and can still be fulfilled. Only customer editing is stopped.

A blocked customer is told nothing. They see their order without edit options and no explanation.

Troubleshooting

  • Flagged orders are still editable — Why: The tags do not match — Fix: Copy them from a real flagged order
  • Everything is blocked — Why: A tag matches every order — Fix: Check what you entered
  • The integration will not save — Why: The tag field is empty — Fix: Add a tag, or turn the integration off
  • Your tool has no tags — Why: It may not tag orders — Fix: Use Shopify's own fraud setting instead

FAQ

Which fraud tools work?

Forter, NoFraud and Signifyd have their own settings. Anything else that tags orders can be handled with order tags under Settings → Editing restrictions.

Do I need one of these?

No. Shopify's own fraud analysis is built in and works without any integration.

What happens to a flagged order?

Customers cannot edit it. Nothing else changes.

Why is nothing being blocked?

Almost always the tags. Open a flagged order in Shopify and copy them exactly.
