Settings & Shopify Integration
The Settings tab controls how your Upsell Engine integrates with Shopify.
Here, you’ll manage global behavior, connect Account Editor to your store’s After Checkout page, and ensure that upsells appear at the right moment in your customer journey.
⚙️ Overview
Shopify only allows one app to manage the “After Checkout” page at a time.
This section helps you make sure Account Editor is the active app for that surface so your upsells, A/B tests, and analytics track correctly.
🔗 After Checkout Setup
This section is where you link Account Editor’s upsells with Shopify’s post-checkout extension.
If another app is already using the After Checkout page, you’ll see a message like:
⚠️ _Only one app can manage the after checkout page.
To enable this feature, select Account Editor in your Shopify checkout settings._
This means Shopify currently has another app assigned to the post-purchase page — for example, a loyalty or review app.
To display your Account Editor upsells here, you must assign control to Account Editor.
🪜 How to Enable Account Editor for After Checkout
Follow these simple steps:
- In your Shopify Admin, go to Settings → Checkout → Post-purchase page.
- Find the section labeled After Checkout Extension.
- If another app is listed, click Change app.
- Choose Account Editor from the dropdown list.
- Click Save.
Once selected, Account Editor automatically takes control of that surface and activates any upsells you’ve created for After Checkout.
✅ When Successfully Enabled
You’ll notice the warning banner disappears and your upsells for the After Checkout page start appearing for customers immediately after they complete payment.
These offers now:
- Run through Shopify’s native checkout extension pipeline
- Track metrics in the Analytics dashboard under Surface Performance
- Can be included in A/B Tests just like any other surface

💡 Tip: After making changes, place a test order to confirm that the upsell appears on the After Checkout page before fulfillment begins.
💬 Pro Tip: When to Use After Checkout
Use this surface when you want to:
- Offer impulse add-ons immediately after payment (e.g., “Add gift wrap” or “Upgrade to express shipping”).
- Keep the checkout experience clean but still drive AOV growth post-purchase.
- Deliver relevant, low-friction offers that feel natural and fast.
