Brightpearl

If you use Brightpearl for order management, make sure to enable its “order edits” setting. This ensures any post-purchase changes made through Account Editor (like item swaps or address updates) are passed correctly from Shopify to Brightpearl.

Why it matters

If the Enable order edits setting is turned off in Brightpearl:

  • Changes made in Shopify (e.g., product swaps) will not sync to Brightpearl
  • The original line items will remain unchanged in Brightpearl
  • Your fulfillment team may pick, pack, and ship the wrong product

This leads to incorrect shipments, returns, and support headaches.

Setup instructions

To allow Account Editor updates to sync correctly:

  1. Go to Brightpearl → Settings
  2. Select the Orders tab
  3. Tick the box for Enable order edits
  4. Click Save

Now perform your Shopify order edits

What happens next

Once this setting is active, any post-purchase edits made in Shopify—via Account Editor—will sync to Brightpearl as expected, including:

  • Swapping product variants
  • Adjusting quantities
  • Removing or adding items

This keeps your OMS and fulfillment team fully in sync.
